This explains what AdvanceTutor collects, why, and what you can do about it.

What we collect

Your account. Name, email address, password (hashed, never stored readable), and the language settings on your profile.

What you answer. The onboarding questionnaire, and your answers to every exercise. This is what builds your course and decides which words come round again.

What you say to the AI tutor. Audio recordings and typed messages, the transcription of them, and the feedback generated from them.

Marketplace activity. Bookings, messages with your tutor, reviews you leave, and the state of any dispute.

Payments. Handled by our payment providers. We store what the provider tells us — that a payment succeeded, the amount, the last four digits and the card brand. We never see or hold your full card number.

Technical data. Device and browser, IP address, and the pages you open, for security and to find out what is broken.

Why we collect it

To run the service you asked for: build your course, track your streak, hold your place in a lesson, connect you with a tutor, and take payment. To keep accounts secure and detect abuse. To answer you when you write to us. To understand which parts of the product work, in aggregate.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your recordings or your lesson answers to train third-party models.

Who sees it

AI providers. Your messages and recordings go to the model provider that generates the reply and the feedback. They process it for us, under contract, and are not allowed to use it for their own purposes.

Your tutor. A tutor you book sees your display name, the language you are learning, your booking, and the messages you send them. They do not see your email address or your lesson history.

Payment providers. What they need to take the payment.

Infrastructure and email. Hosting, storage and transactional email providers, as processors.

Authorities. When the law actually requires it.

How long we keep it

Your account data lasts as long as your account. Lesson answers and progress are kept while the account is open, because they are the progress. AI tutor recordings are kept for 90 days and then deleted; the transcript and the feedback stay with the session. Payment records are kept for as long as tax law requires, typically seven years. Deleting your account removes your profile, your progress and your recordings within 30 days, except records we are required to keep.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, or object to a particular use. Account deletion is in your profile settings and does not need to go through us. If you are in the EEA or the UK you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.

Cookies

We use a session cookie to keep you signed in and to hold your progress before you have an account, and a preference cookie for your theme and language. No advertising cookies.

Children

AdvanceTutor is not for children under 13. If we learn an account belongs to one, we delete it.

Where your data is

Our servers and our providers are in the EU and the United States. Transfers out of the EEA and the UK are covered by standard contractual clauses.

Changes

If this changes materially we will tell you in the app and by email before it takes effect.
